Chandigarh, October 10- Haryana Education Minister Mrs Geeta Bhukkal has said that Haryana is ahead of other States in implementing Right To Education (RTE) Act.
Presiding over the meeting of sub-committee of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) in New Delhi today, Mrs Bhukkal said that Haryana is now considering to implement RTE at 10 plus two level also.
The meeting was attended by Assam Education Minister Mr Himanta Biswa, Chhattisgarh Minister of School Education Mr Brij Mohan Agarwal , Bihar Minister of Human Resource Development, Mr Prashant Kumar Sahi, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretay of School Education, Haryana Mrs Surina Rajan, besides officers from Bihar, Assam and Chhattisgarh, SCERT, Andhra Pradesh and NCERT.
Mrs Bhukkal said there are some misunderstandings about CCA and ‘no detention’ issues. In Haryana, RTE is being implemented with all sincerity under the guidance of the Chief Minister, Mr Bhupinder Singh Hooda. School children are being given free text books, school uniforms and scholarships from class one. As a result, the attendance of school children in different classes has increased.
Various issues like shortage of funds, parity in the standard of teachers and different views on CCA and no detention came up in the meeting. It was cleared that no detention does not mean no evaluation. It was also suggested that there should be common competency test at the level of classes III,V and VIII.
Principal Secretary of School Education, Haryana Mrs Surina Rajan spoke about the implementation of RTE Act in Haryana.
