Chandigarh : Hamari Kaksha in collaboration with SLSA and Govt. Model Sr. Secondary School, Sector 26, Chandigarh organized culmination of one year long project ‘Saakshar Balak Balika and Saksham Maa’ at Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology, Sector 26, Chandigarh. The function was presided over by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta and the Chief Guest was the Advisor to Chandigarh Administration, Sh. K.K. Sharma, IAS.
On 1st September 2013 Hamari Kaksha started its 5th Branch in Govt. Model Sr. Sec School, Sector 26, Chandigarh in collaboration with SLSA (State Legal Services Authority) Union Territory, Chandigarh for running Special Training Centre (STC) for out of school children. It is aimed towards spreading legal awareness vis-à-vis Right to Education and Right to Information Act to students and their parents through lectures, activities, films, nukkad nataks etc. by experts on socio-legal issues, Psychologists, Counselors and volunteers of Hamari Kaksha.
Various events were undertaken throughout the year like Educational and Excursion Trips for children of STC classes, Guidance and Counselling through Parent Melas for mothers and also celebrated festivals and numerous legal awareness camps. During the project the Hamari Kaksha helped the school in mainstreaming around 150 students and worked on the learning levels of primary classes. Throughout the year motivational incentives and gifts were distributed to encourage students and their parents to come to school for participating in different activities.
At the parent awareness camp, skits on environmental degradation, mother education, patriotism, women empowerment and importance of school education were presented in a very vibrant and scintillating manner. The highlight of the function was the participation of the parents who came to see their children performing for the first time on stage. The skits, dance, dramas were presented by approximately 200 primary class’ students. The Hon’ble Chief Guest Sh. K.K. Sharma, IAS stated that such community participation is vital for implementing education in real sense as the Government is not the only responsible agency for the progress and growth of any society.
