Amritsar, December 20 : The Department of Electronics Technology, Guru Nanak Dev University has organised a 3–day International Conference on Emerging Technologies in Electronics and Communication ICETEC-2013 here today in the Guru Nanak Bhawan Auditorium of the University.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ajaib Singh Brar was the chief guest. The ceremony was started with shabad kirtan. Prof Avtar Singh, Head, Department of Electrical, San Jose State University USA and Prof. R. K. Kotnala, Chief Scientist, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi were the Guests of honour. The function was started with the introductory speech of Prof. Derick Engles, Convener, ICETEC-2013 in which he gave stress on Emerging Trends in Electronics & Communication. He told how the electronics started from silicon, has reached the present level. Prof. Brar gave his valuable speech on the need of new techniques in modern time and the status of research in Guru Nanak Dev University.
Prof. Avtar Singh in his keynote address detailed about the implementation of Digital Signal Processing in Practical Application. He emphasised on the newer technologies and stepping from individual processor to system-on-chip. This was succeeded by speech of Prof. R.K. Kotnala from NPL, New Delhi in which he emphasised how different materials can be used as actuator, sensors and other electronics application conference proceeding were released by the chief guest. Head of Department Prof. M.L. Singh detailed about the achievements of Electronics Department. Since its Foundation in 1983.
In the last, Organising Secretary, Prof. Ravinder Singh Sawhney presented vote of thanks. He extended his gratitude for the overall cooperation. He thanked the dignitaries and the delegates for their support to make the conference successful.
Prof. Sukleen Bindra Narang, Dean of Engg. & Technology, Prof. Hardeep Singh, Head, Placement, Prof. Gurwinder Singh, Head, Computer Science and Engineering and Prof. P.K. Sehajpal, Dean, Students Welfare were present on the occasion. Mementos were presented to the guests by the members of organising committee.
