Arunachal : Debabrata Maji of Mechanical Engineering Department of North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli (Itanagar), Arunachal Pradesh has been conferred with the most globally reputed prestigious “Global Teacher Role Model Award 2015” in recognition of meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role for building sustainable global society on October 5, 2015 in Global Teacher’s Conference 2015 held during ‘World Teacher’s Day’ at Savarkar Auditorium, Dadar, Mumbai by Chief Guest Mata Prasad the Hon’ble Ex-Governor of Arunachal Pradesh in presence of Padmashree Awardees Dr. Vijaykumar Shah, Renowned Author and Entrepreneur in USA Shri Thanedar, Founder President of MVLA Trust Adv. Krishnaji Jagadale and other noted personalities. The award is constituted by Mumbai based Non Governmental Organization MVLA Trust.
The daylong programme started with Morning Breach-Fast with Tea coffee including release of a Souvenir consists of the brief of the Awardees; Cultural Programme; Buffet Indian Lunch; Panel Discussion on ‘Empowerment of Teachers for Building Sustainable Global Society’ under the Chair Person of Padmashree Awardees Dr. Vijaykumar Shah; Introduction Ceremony of Awardees; Farewell Ceremony and lastly Musical program ‘Swara Tej’ by famous Marathi singer Tejaswini to mark the World Teacher’s Day a memorable one.
The award consists of an Award Plaque, Engraved Pendant Medal, Certificate in the form of Lakhota (Traditional Khalita), and Robe of Honour (Mahavastram).
In 1994, UNESCO proclaimed 5 October World Teachers’ Day, in celebration of the great step made for teachers in 1966 when a special intergovernmental conference convened by UNESCO in Paris in cooperation with the ILO adopted the ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. In addition 5 October celebrates the adoption by the UNESCO General Conference in 1997 of the UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel. The day is devoted to appreciating, assessing, and improving the educators of the world. Teachers are producing global citizens, so they are global teachers, who need to situate their advances on a global level.

More than 172 publications out of which 34 in book chapters in his credit published in different journals, seminar, conference, workshop in international/national level with ISBN No. Debabrata Maji already received four times Lifetime Achievement Awards from several originations in India and aboard. He is also received the most coveted International Scientist Award, American Medal of Honour and Man of the Year Award for his outstanding achievement, inspirational goals and accomplishments within the area of understanding among the international community of mankind. He also the recipient the most prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, Shiksha Rattan Puraskar, Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award, Bharat Gaurav Award, Asia Pacific International Award, Best Citizen of India Award, Global Achievers Award, India Achievement Awards, UWA Effulgent Star of the Decade Award and numerous Certificate of Appreciation from different recognised reputed organisations.
