Chandigarh : The Joy of Giving Week is a platform for every single Indian to celebrate the joy of giving, irrespective of their age, gender, religion or the social status. This festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., October 2nd to October 8th, and brings together Indians from all walks of life, to celebrate “kindness”. This is an opportunity to reach out to someone underprivileged – by lending your helping hand, by presenting anything or even just saying a kind word to someone who may not have expected it from you.
Chitkara University other then undertaking various activities at their campus also organized The Joy of Giving cause at an Orphanage “Bal Niketan” at Sector 2, Panchkula, where NSS volunteers & Staff of the University under able guidance of Colonel Kulwant Singh, Dean Students Welfare , Asst Prof Ankita Tuteja & Pooja Dhiman carried gift for the residents. They spent some good time with the Children making them feel loved and special to the society. Special refreshments arrangements were made by the University for the children in the Orphanage. Volunteers organized few games and activities and the winners were awarded by the gifts from the University. Specially made Track suits were given to the children along with goodie bags. Staff and students also donated used clothes and old blankets keeping in view the onset of winter season, the same was planned to bring some warmth to the people who are not fortunate enough to have proper clothing to protect them from harsh winters.
Chitkara University Registrar Dr. Varinder Kanwar who joined the Volunteer’s for the noble cause and opined
that
” Such activities should be organized frequently. We all can help rebuild and reshape the society collectively by contributing as individuals in our own little ways and make it big because a simple act of kindness has power to change a life. So let’s bring the change”
