Asif Iqbal Naik ,Kishtwar September 25:- In an alleged case of corporal punishment, Jatin Kumar student of 7th class at Adarsh Balneeketan High School Kishtwar alleged that school teacher namely Rajpal under the garb of checking nails in his hands thrashes him badly, as a result of which he fell unconscious for some time and feels head strokes for quite some time. Jatin said that after his friends informed the teachers about his pain, the school management instead of taking him to hospital prefers to send him home. He said that after reaching home, he informed the parents about corporal punishment given to him by his teacher during morning assembly and also complains to his parents about pain in neck. He said that his father took him to hospital where he undergone through medical checkup. He said that it was not only Rajpal sir who beat the students every day and said that other teachers also beat the students with wire.
Niranjan Sharma, father of Jatin Kumar shows anger and unhappiness over the way his son was treated by school teacher. He said that instead of taking his son to hospital, the school authorities left his son at the mercy of God. He said that he feels disappointed over the way his son was treated by school authorities. “I am not against punishment by teacher if my son is weak in studies, but it should be in such a way that it cannot put the life of a student at risk.” Said Niranjan Sharma. He said giving cruel punishment to a child over minor issue like nails in hands is condemnable act and must be dealt with iron hands so that such incident could not be repeated in future. He said that his wife informed him that she trimmed the nails of his son only last Sunday and termed the defense of school authorities as false and concocted. He said that when he approached school authorities, they did not feel any regret and instead support the cruel corporal punishment given to his son. He said that school management also justified his decision to send his son to home instead of hospital. He said that doctors at District Hospital Kishtwar after examining his son found injury in his soft tissues of neck. He said that his son is feeling lot of pain in his neck and said that doctors have advised him for rest for couple of days.
Meanwhile accuse teacher Rajpal denies the allegation level by Jatin Kumar and his father and said that as a part of checking of cleanness among the students, he as a routine matter check the nails of Jatin Kumar hands and found his hands duty. He said that in order to trim the nails of Jatin Kumar, he brings nail cutter and trim his nails. He said that he slapped twice on back of Jatin Kumar and added that his action in no mean is life threatening. He said that he is serving in this school since last 25 years and said that during these 25 years thousands of students pass out from this school and no one among those students ever complaint about him in a manner Jatin’s father gives the hype to this issue. He said that principal and other staff members were also present at the time of the incident.
Principal of the school Roshan Lal sen while defending his teacher said that the incident took place in front of him and said that as per routine, the teachers during morning assembly check the cleanness of students and during checking Jatin Kumar’s nail was found untrimmed and on this the teacher gives him minor punishment. He said that after giving him lighter, the said teacher trimmed his nails. He said that after trimming his nails in front of students, according to Principal of the school Jatin might feels nervous. He said that despite the fact that there is no mistake on part of teacher, he even than advice Rajpal and other teachers to main calm in future.
