ASSAM : A medical camp was organised by 46 Assam Rifles in the village of Kanjang on 12 October 15 which is located in one of the remotest corner of Phek district. The villagers of Kanjang lack basic health care system in the absence of any PHC in the area and the nearest health care support system is available at Meluri which is 7-8 hours of drive away.
The medical team attended to the needs of 250 patients along with distributing medicines. The team carried out blood tests for Malaria and Typhoid. Doctor and medical team also visited houses of four bed ridden patients who could not come to the camp. Villagers were grateful to Assam Rifles as it was for the first time they saw house calling by a doctor and gave samples for blood test. This good Samaritan work by troops of ‘Friends of Hill People’ was appreciated by all.
