Amit Sharma , Rajouri : In an endeavour to provide an impetus to education facilities in far flung areas, Army distributed furniture items to Government Boys Middle School, Budhal. The furniture items were distributed by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion at Samote under the aegis of Uniform Force as part of the ‘Sadbhavana’ activities.
The Armed forces have been at the forefront of carrying out development works in underprivileged areas of the state. The Government Boys Middle School, Budhal is imparting education to more than 185 students living in Budhal and its adjoining areas. The school had no adequate furniture to cater the seating facility to all the students or nor had adequate funds to purchase the furniture for the school. Hence, army authorities at Samote went about to do the needful for the students.
During welcome address army officials said that the school authorities and the villagers in the area approached the unit with a requisition of providing assistance and seating facilities for their students. Acceding to their request army provided the furniture items and distributed to the Government Boys Middle School, Budhal, Tehsil Kotranka for the betterment in educational standards of underprivileged students in the remote area.
On the occasion, Commanding Officer handed over the furniture items to the Headmaster of Government Boys Middle School, Budhal. The villagers and the School authorities appreciated the efforts of the Army in contributing furniture items to the school for overcoming the shortage of seating facilities and smooth conduct of their studies.
The distribution function was attended by a large gathering of villagers and other prominent persons of the area. A small cultural programme was presented by the students of the school. The Commanding Officer, Rashtriya Rifles interacted with the students and motivated them to work hard in studies for a bright future in this competitive world. He also assured them that army is determined in its efforts to give an impetus in improving the educational standards of the students in remote villages of the area. One of the students remarked “It is the army who is our saviour in these far flung areas and we are all thankful to them for looking after us and being with us throughout”.
