World Tourism Day celebration In Chandigarh
Chandigarh, September 27:- Chandigarh Administration today celebrated the World Tourism Day with full fan fare. The day was marked by various activities including live performance ‘Surnandan’, an Indian classical and fusion music by Mr. Subhash Ghosh, a renowned artist and accompanist at Sukhna Lake early in the morning, followed by ‘Run for Tourism’ . UT Home-cum-Tourism Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas flagged off the run. The run started off from Sukhna Lake and after covering a distance of one km terminated at the same point.
Around 200 students of UT Government Schools along with 200 ITFT students took part in the run. Many officials of Tourism and Education department together with other volunteers took part in the run and made it a success.
In the evening, Antakshri Competition was held at CITCO Chef Lakeview Cafeteria which was then followed by Fun with DJ at Sukhna Lake. Department of Tourism, Chandigarh Administration, in association with CITCO, organized these activities to mark the celebrations on World Tourism Day from September 25, 26 and 27 in Chandigarh.
The festivity began from September 25 with a Flower arrangement competition organized by Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42. On the eve of September 26, a musical evening ‘Rock Fusion music’ was held at Plaza Sector 17, Chandigarh.
The other attractions on the World Tourism Day were Complementary Ride for special children on CITCO‘s Hop-On-Hop-Off Tourist Coach from Hotel Shivalikview, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh, September 27:- Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42 D, Chandigarh commemorated the World Tourism Day with gusto and enthusiasm. An Inter College Poster Making Competition on the theme “Incredible India” & “Tourism & Global Warming” was organized and as many as 34 participants from various educational institutions took part. Savita Tripathi of Dev Samaj College of Education came first, Simranjit Kaur of Government College of Girls, Sector 42 came second and Gajender Singh along with Vibhuti Jain won consolations prizes. Principal Sh. T K Razdan awarded prizes to the winners of the competition.
The satirical play “sadak hamare baap ki” was also showcased which was directed by Mr. Rajeev Mehta. It was a blend of humor, pathos and instruction, performed by 13 artists from Theatre Arts a well known theatre group of North India. It depicted the repercussions of those who do not care for the traffic rules on the road.
Students of the Institute visited the Chandigarh Railway Station and Airport and welcomed all the visitors with flowers on the occasion of World Tourism Day. The students of the Institute received a rare opportunity of welcoming renowned theatre & film personalities like Avtaar Gill, Anjan Srivastav and Bharat Kapoor.
