8 Sep : In a setback to Gujarat govt, a judicial probe says the 2004 killing of young college girl Ishrat Jahan and three others suspected to be on a mission to “kill” Chief Minister Narendra Modi was a case of “fake encounter” by the police.
Metropolitan Magistrate S P Tamang’s probe report submitted in the metropolitan court Ahmedabad on Mondaysaid the four persons who were also suspected to be having links with Pakistan-based terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) were killed in cold blood by the police.

26 July :  Gujarat government has invoked Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) against the resident doctors who are on strike for the last four days demanding hike in their stipend.
“We have invoked ESMA against the striking resident doctors,” Principal Secretary of Health Ravi Saxena said.”Now that they are under ESMA, they can be arrested or detained also,” he said.
