11 May : Uttar Pradesh has topped the list of states in recovery of fake Indian currency with a face value of over Rs two crore by different government agencies during the year 2009.
According to latest official data, highest recovery and seizures were done from Uttar Pradesh followed by Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Chandigarh.

24 Nov : In the wake of terrorist threat on the State Assembly, the Uttar Pradesh government has banned demonstrations and agitations in front of the Vidhan Bhawan building.
“In view of the terrorist threat to the Vidhan Bhawan and inconvenience caused to people due to traffic jams due to demonstrations, the government has decided to impose an immediate ban on agitation opposite the assembly building,” a government spokesman said in Lucknow on Tuesday.
