25 Aug : In a special gesture, Indian Railways have decided to run an exhibition train named ‘Mother Express’ to commemorate the birth centenary of Mother Teresa, the noted missionary social worker. 27 June ; Railways have launched an SMS campaign to make the people aware about the possible danger of mishaps at unmanned level crossings.
“The SMS campaign involves sending of safety precaution messages to the local populace around the unmanned level crossings,” a senior Railway Ministry official said.
The text messages in Hindi and English are educative in nature and appeals to the road users, drivers of buses and tractors and others residing near the unmanned level crossings to take adequate precaution while negotiating them.

22 June : The Railways will soon come out with checks and balances to streamline the Railway Recruitment Board examination process across the country even the ministry also plans to curtail the powers of the Chairmen of all the 22 Railway Recruitment Boards across the country.
