15 June : Seven sports presented their vision for inclusion in the Olympic Games programme today in a series of briefings for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board. The seven sports — baseball, golf, karate, roller sports, rugby, softball and squash — are vying for two programme slots at the 2016 Games.

11 Dec : The IOC’s Executive Board and the 2009 Congress Commission have decided to extend the deadline for submissions to the Virtual Olympic Congress. Olympic Family and public contributors now have until 28 February 2009 to submit their views and ideas on the themes of the Congress.

26 August :Beijing Olympic Games Medal Winners Shri Vijender Kumar and Shri Sushil Kumar called on the Vice President of India Shri Mohd. Hamid Ansari here today. 25 August 2008 :4,770 doping tests were carried out in Beijing in the framework of the largest ever testing programme for an Olympic Games. The tests included 3,801 urine and 969 blood tests. Urine tests included 817 EPO tests, and blood tests covered 471 human Growth Hormone (hGH) tests.
