Odisha : Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha ( CESU ) has its 24 x 7 electricity call center functioning since 2009 at Power House Colony , Bhubaneswar for its esteemed customers and about 19 lakh customers in the districts of Cuttack , , Jagatsinghpur , Kendrapara , Jajpur , Dhenkanal , Angul , Nayagarh , Puri and Khorda are getting the use of such call center . The call center is receiving complaints on fuse call , bill related problems , new connection , voltage problem etc . Further electricity bill payment system for Bhubaneswar customers from 8am to 8pm daily and bill amounts are received either in cash or in shape of cheque . CESU requests to the customers to use this facility and for any electricity complaints , consumers can dial 1912 or 0674 – 2391110 . Besides this , every 7th of every month is the consumers grievance day at all its 20 electrical divisions .

CESU has introduced online payment of electricity bill for its valued consumers to get them freed from standing in the long queues, to save their valuable time, and the risk of cash handling . The details regarding the bill payment are now available in CESU’s website –www.cescoorissa.com / www.cesuodisha.com . After browsing the website , the consumer can click on the “Bill Info & On-line payment” link and then “Customer Billing Information (Public)” Link -1 /Link 2 , then after selecting the category of consumers i.e LT and select the division name and enter the Consumer Account Number .In the next screen, the consumer once register his / her Mobile number and / or email address in the specified fields and submit for processing . The consumer shall be prompted to enter the due date and bill amount before and after due date to start the payment processing . The payment can be made through their net banking / credit card / debit card / ATM card etc as per the similar procedure followed for railway ticket reservation and online purchases etc . CESU request to its valued customers to take this facility for their benefit . In this age of internet and smart payment environment , about 18 lakh customers in nine districts of Odisha can be benefitted through this e-payment system .
Government of India has sanctioned `125.00 lakh to India Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (ITDC) to organize sound & light show programme at Udaigiri caves in Orissa. ITDC implemented the project and the trial run was held in April, 2008. However, due to conservation issues raised by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the show was not commissioned. A legislator of the ruling BJD in Orissa, Jagabandhu Majhi, and his personal security officer were shot dead by suspected Maoists at a public meeting in Nawarangpur district on Saturday.
39-year-old Majhi, a prominent tribal leader, who represented Umerkote assembly constituency, had gone to Gona village to distribute land pattas when the incident took place, Director General of Police Manmohan Praharaj said.
Patta distribution was under way at a public meeting in the Naxal-hit area when about four unidentified armed persons stormed the venue and fired killing Majhi and his PSO, he said. Continue reading
