Chandigarh, August 24, 2014 : Chandigarh Branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today hosted the Investor Awareness Program organized by Committee on Financial Markets and Investors’ Protection of ICAI jointly with Ministry of Corporate Affairs Govt of India at Hotel Taj, Chandigarh today. The Event was well attended by over 300 CAs and financial experts of the region.
Sh. Alok Kumar, Director, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest while Dr. Raj Singh, Registrar of Companies, Punjab & Chandigarh was Guest of Honour. CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, Central Council Member and Chairman Committee on financial Markets and Investors’ Protection of ICAI was the main speaker.
CA Uma Kant Mehta, Chairman, Chandigarh Branch in his welcome address stressed upon the Financial Education of masses so that they should not fall in any of the trap or fraud. The recent frauds by Chit fund companies or other organizations where potential investors were offered higher rate of returns with the intention of defrauding them are alarming and increasing day by day. He lauded the role being played by Ministry of Corporate Affairs Govt of India in educating the masses about the ways in which safe investments can be made and how to minimize risk while investing in Stock Markets.
Dr. Raj Singh, Registrar of Companies, Punjab & Chandigarh highlighted the role of MCA in educating Investors through organizing various seminars throughout the country and the Awareness Programme in Chandigarh is one of those programmes. These days, companies are coming with various innovative and lucrative schemes, in whose traps, the common man fall and loses his hard earned money. The continuing education of the Investors on how to prevent from Investment scams will definitely proved to be beneficial to the investors.
Sh. Alok Kumar, Director, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Govt. of India, highlighted the key features of Companies Act, 2013 in which various preventive measures are taken and also monetary penalties enhanced so as to act as deterrent for fraudulent persons. The investments should be made with eyes open and also with proper study of different available schemes. The lucrative schemes are like honey trap and the investors should control the greed before investing in any of the schemes.
CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, Central Council member of ICAI provided the conceptual Framework of Investing in market. The first and foremost mantra for investing in market is to set a clear goal and to have proper control over the greed so that the investment can turn out to be fruitful.
During the occasion CA Nidhi Srivastava gave a presentation on Companies Act, 2013 while Sh. Devinder Narain educated the participants on how to prevent from Investment Scams. Sh. Ajay Khandelwal gave Dos and Donts for Trading in Stock Market.
