PASIGHAT : Many spent a sleepless night on Wednesday at the Mirmir Charali point (near DCs office) as after a massive fire gutted down 51 houses and shanties.
The fire broke out at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday night and two fire tenders from Pasighat PS and one from neighboring Assam were pressed in service but it was extinguished completely after 15 hours and reportedly dissatisfied public damaged one fire tender.
The local MLA and present Education Minister Bosiram Siram along with DC (Incharge) SC Debnath rushed to the spot and met the victims. Siram granted and handed over one lakh cash to the DC for immediate relief to the victims and further informed that taking serious note the state Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin has assured to provide new fire tender to Pasighat soon. Siram also assured to provide free books and uniforms to 35 students who lost everything in the devastating fire accident.The Home Minister Takar Marde who arrived to Pasighat on Thursday, also visited the spot and announced one lakh rupees as immediate relief.
Meanwhile the District Administration (DA) held an emergency meeting with magistrates, police authorities, DRRO and officers to tackle the situation. DA granted three thousand rupees for each victim besides arranging temporary shelter at Town Club, Pasighat to facilitate the homeless people.
Not only the government, but the non-governmental agencies have also come forward and have been generously contributing their shares. Seva Bharati provided buckets, groceries and utensils and Support India handed over cash five thousands to the DA for the noble cause.
