As politicians are trying to woo female voters in this election, now men are asking what the candidates of various political parties can do for men’s issues and protection of men.
Politicians need to understand that discriminating men for women’s votes can prove very costly for them, as many discriminated men are neither poor nor powerless. Discriminated Men can get back at the politicians and make them pay a heavy price.
SIFF would like to highlight growing number of false rape cases being filed on men and consensual sex in live-in relations is being considered rape by various courts. In last 10 years of Congress rule, according to home ministry, more than 300,000 women and about 800,000 men were arrested in dowry cases without investigation or any evidence.
The strategy of men’s rights activists is simple.
As Congress party is responsible for large scale human rights violations of men, SIFF has given call to all men not to vote for Congress Party in this election. Men are using social media to inform each other about discrimination of men by Congress Party.
There are a dozen other credible political parties in India. Men will choose to vote anyone of them based on what these politicians promise to men during this election.
SIFF has just four questions to ask to all these politicians, including Narendra Modi, Arvind Kejriwal, Jayalalitha, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sharad Pawar and all candidates contesting in this election. They are free to reply using facebook, twitter or through media:
1) Will you introduce a bill in parliament for protecting men from domestic violence? Or do you think domestic violence against men is hilarious?
2) Should biological fathers be given partial custody in a shared parenting arrangement during separation or divorce from their wives? Today, most men do not get to even see their children for months and years, if they get separated.
3) Do you think consensual sex with a woman with false promise of marriage is rape? Should a man be termed rapist for refusing to marry his girl friend or breaking up with her?
4) Will you work for funding Male Studies Courses in Universities, just like Women’s Studies or Gender Studies Courses are funded?
Based on answers political leaders give to these 4 questions, the men will decide, which party to vote in this election. Voting for Congress Party and CPI/CPIM is completely ruled out, because they have worked to violate human rights of many innocent men.
Today, Suicides due to family problems are the number one reason for suicides of men. According to Home Ministry, about 20,000 married men have committed suicide compared to about 12000 married women due to “family reasons” alone in year 2012.
Most male politicians and political parties do not conduct adequate research about gender issues and fail to address the complexities of it. They tend to see Gender issues only as women’s issues and in the name of women’s empowerment they end up eventually discriminating men. Worse still, there is a growing tendency among political parties to compete with each other to garner women’s votes. But, they forget that if they go for women’s vote bank, then soon there will be a male vote bank as well.
Many ordinary young men in the country have not harmed any political party or any political leader. They just go about earning their livelihood and make the country prosper with their hard work. There is no reason, why political parties should be hell bent in discriminating them by denying their constitutional rights?
Taking men for granted may prove to be very costly for Political Parties in India. Nowhere in the world, men are being discriminated as much as Indian men.
If women are 49% of electorate, then men are 51%. This election Congress and UPA are going to pay a big price for several of their anti-male policies including complete inaction towards amending section 498a to stop its misuse. Today young men in marital problems often end up sued with 3 to 4 cases by their wives in 3 different courts. Due to this, thousands of young men lose jobs and become bankrupt running around courts and paying lakhs to lawyers as fees
