12 Sep :Farm commodity prices monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs have generally remained steady or have shown mixed trend in different centres across the country in the week ending 11.09.2008.
Wheat prices remained steady at all the reporting centres except for a decrease at Bangalore.
Sugar prices remained steady across majority of the centres. Prices declined at Shillong and increased at Lucknow, Jaipur and Thiruvananthapuram.
Gram prices remained steady over the week across most of the centers; declined at Bangalore; and increased at Delhi, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram.
Tur dal prices were also steady across most of the centers; declined at Mumbai; and increased at Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram.
At Delhi, prices of tur dal, sugar, vanaspati, onion and salt remained steady over one week; those of wheat, atta, groundnut and milk remained steady for six months. Prices of the following commodities have increased at Delhi in the week ending 11th September: tea (loose), gram and rice. Prices of mustard oil and potato decreased during the week.
The Forward Market Commission, have on 5th September, extended the suspension of futures trading in soya oil, potato, chana (gram) and rubber, upto 30th November, 2008.
