CHANDIGARH: In strong retaliation against the third consecutive increase in petrol and diesel prices, the SC Department of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee organized a massive demonstration today in Maloya village. The protest, which drew a large crowd of local residents, was spearheaded by H.S. Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee.
Prominent leaders present at the demonstration included SC Department Chairman Dharambir, Mahila Congress President Nandita Hooda, Councillor Nirmala, Congress spokesperson Dilawar Singh, and program organizer Paramjit Kaur. During the protest, Congress workers raised slogans against the Modi government, alleging that the continuous rise in the prices of essential commodities has made survival extremely difficult for the common man.
Addressing the gathering, H.S. Lucky stated that the central government has proved it has no concern for the problems of ordinary citizens. He warned the government against living under the misconception that it could mislead the public by gradually increasing prices.
“The people of the country are watching and understanding how a systematic attempt is being made to loot the pockets of common citizens,” Lucky said. He highlighted that any increase in fuel prices directly impacts the cost of all commodities, pushing the country into an inflationary crisis where the poor, middle class, laborers, farmers, women, and youth suffer the most.
Echoing these sentiments, SC Department Chairman Dharambir criticized the administration’s complete insensitivity toward the weaker sections of society. Mahila Congress President Nandita Hooda and Councillor Nirmala also strongly condemned the central government’s “anti-people and undemocratic” decisions, vowing that the Congress party will continue to heavily raise the voice of the public.
Program organizer Paramjit Kaur reaffirmed that the Congress party will keep fighting for the rights of the people from the streets to the legislature. The event concluded with heavy participation from senior Congress leaders, women workers, and dozens of local residents who gathered to express their frustration over the rising cost of living.
