British Council announces Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2010

27 Oct : British Council has announced ‘Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2010′ for Doctoral Studies at St John’s College, University of Cambridge for research aspirants with outstanding academic and leadership credentials.

The scholarships would enable academically outstanding Indian students to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science and Technology, Economics and Social Sciences, a British Council release said on Monday.

The scholarship was set up in 2007 in honour of Singh, a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John’s College.

Applications in Aerospace Engineering and Energy Studies would be of particular interest this year.

There would be three awards and the scholarship will include fund academic fees, international airfare, monthly stipend to cover living expenses and UK Visa, the release added.

The applicant should be an Indian national currently based in the country and should not be more than 35 years of age, as of 15th December, 2009.

The applicant should also hold a relevant masters degree with first class in UG and PG level.

The candidates for the scholarships will be selected through a process of shortlisting from the applications received by the British Council, followed by personal interviews, which would be held in New Delhi.
