Chandigarh, October 25 : PGI Director and Head of Cardiology Department, Dr KK Talwar has been elected as the President of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India). He will take over the post on October 31.An eminent cardiologist, Talwar has significantly contributed in the field of clinical and research activities. He pioneered the use of endomyocardial biopsy in tropical heart muscle diseases and documented the occurrence of inflammatory myocarditis in Takayasu Arteritis resulting in heart failure.
